Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please know that I hold you carefully in prayer as you prepare to preach and teach.
A few notes as we begin…
This post isn’t intended to be academic or a deep dive. It’s a starter, think of it as an appetizer to start your meal of sermon preparation. I’ve also learned that these starters are helpful for individuals and small groups studying the lectionary texts as well. I freely share my thoughts and reflections for you to use as you wish. By no means do I want to assume your ministry context or how you should preach/study the Great News of Jesus love for all of Creation. I offer these reflections to you with the hope that maybe a few of these thoughts will be helpful in your preaching preparation or small group study. My hope is to prepare these sermon starters at least a week in advance if not more.
For the purposes of streamlining, I’ve decided to choose one Scripture from the United Methodist Common Lectionary.
I plan on sharing these weekly, if you would like to subscribe you can do so here.
If you would like to link your sermon manuscripts, podcasts or videos that pertain to the week, please do so in the comments below.
If you have constructive feedback that you would like to share, an insight that you found helpful, I will gladly welcome it.
Unless otherwise stated, I will use the New Revised Standard Translation.
If you have a suggestion for a way I can improve these sermon starters, please feel free to share it in the comments section or via email.
I’m grateful and honored that you would engage in this Sermon Starter and I will gladly keep you in my prayers if you would like.
