Church friends and families,
I pray that as you are reading this message, that you are safe and healthy emotionally, spiritually and physically. We are all experiencing a season together with the novel Coronavirus changing our lives and world. Over the past couple of weeks, some of us have gotten in touch via email or phone calling. If you have not been in regular contact with your Community Group, please contact Janet Gillies yellowhouse4@comcast.net.
As a church, we are better when we are together. Nothing takes the place of personal interactions, gathering together, drinking our favorite beverages from our Holy Grounds ministry and sharing our stories. While this is a new and challenging time for us, our mission and our calling as a church remains the same. We believe that God’s love is generous, gracious and for all of Creation. People in our communities are engaging with their neighbors, emailing and phone calling each other to stay in touch. I believe we are all practicing new ways of connection that will help us to be a better people.
It’s likely that none of us were prepared for what is happening, if you are feeling ill prepared or that you are still looking for a consistent schedule, you are in good company. Something we are learning is that some of our folks are willing and able to help. Other people in our community could use help. If you have household items that you can donate for people in need (cleaning supplies, toilet paper, disinfecting wipes) or you are in need, please contact me DJ@revDJ.com and our church will do our best to respond and help. We don’t have a clear idea of how we will help, but we passionate about engaging and responding.
If you haven’t sent us a picture of your selfie, we would love to have a picture of you and we will print it and put in our church. Also, if you have any interest pre-recording yourself reading scripture, lighting candles (like an acolyte) or any other way of helping us lead service...please let me know.
I’m creating a separate page for my weekly emails focused for our church. Unfortunately, it seems that this is the best way for us to send you a weekly email (for now). Our Community Group leaders are the other way of communicating and contacting folks engaged with our church.
Starting this week, our church will be providing a daily 3-5 minute video for short reflections. Our hope is to provide another way of connection for us together. If you are interested in sharing a message, scripture or how you are, please let me know by sending me a message.
Peace be with you and your loved ones,
Pastor DJ
