Church family,
Grace and peace to you today in the name of our Lord Jesus. I hope that you are enjoying the beauty of the day. This weekend , we will gather for worship online starting at 10am. After church, from 11:15-Noon, our parking lot fellowship will continue.
Juneteenth:
June 19th marks the day when a group of enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned that they were free from slavery. Juneteenth is 2.5 years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Celebrating Juneteenth celebrates freedom and is a stark reminder of how long it took for slavery to reach some of the deepest areas of the Confederacy.
Jeremiah 29:
Thanks to the support of Church Council, we have a team called Jeremiah 29. Our grounding Scripture is…
Jeremiah 29:11-12:
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
We are in an ever evolving state of socially distant guidelines from the United Methodist Church, local government and the Center for disease control. Our guidance is subject to change based off of the current state of the pandemic and guidance of church council. Our primary mandate is to “Do No Harm”. We understand that we are all a work in progress, we desire to listen, learn and serve to the best of our abilities for the glory of God.
Our team is committed to communicating on a regular basis. While the Jeremiah 29 team will meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, your feedback, comments and prayers are always welcome. Here is a list of the current items we have addressed.
We will add key announcements toward the end of the service
For now, we wil continue to ask that everyone entering the church building wear a mask. We also ask that people entering the building be vaccinated (currently ages 12+).
We are open to feedback, comments and concerns using the email address fwumcJermiah29@gmail.com
Our goal is to a section on our website for Covid-19 updates and communication in addition to Pastor DJ’s weekly communication, bulletin and other means of connection.
We will provide a survey to learn what our church peoples thoughts, concerns and passions are. The feedback from this survey will critically inform our work.
This process of adding in person worship and gathering again face to face will be a careful process as we follow our mandate to “Do no harm”.
FAQ:
When will the church “open”?
We have no official date set for opening. A lot can happen this summer and into the fall season. When we add in-person worship on Sunday mornings, we will share our plan and strategy asap. For now, this will be a step by step process.
