Friends and family of Federal Way United Methodist Church,

It felt like million years ago when we talked about Lent as a time of giving up or adding a spiritual discipline to become more aware of what it means to prepare for Lent. It’s become clear that Lent is great when it’s on our choice. It’s easy to give up chocolate or social media when we choose to. We are all better at Lent; when Lent is on our terms.

We are in a time when we are being asked to be physically distant from friends, family and loved ones. We are asked to do this whether we are ill, or not. We are asked to be physically distant because it’s the good, moral thing to do for everyone. It’s good for our neighbors that we see and for the ones we don’t.

This is a time when the bravest of us are able to care for the least and most vulnerable of our communities by staying home and healthy. Thank you for the ways you are choosing to care for our community, for our neighbors and for our world. We are all in this together, and we will get through this together.
